Dubai: Emirates has unveiled what it describes as the world's first electrically powered Premium Economy seat featuring a full-height adjustable privacy screen between every seat, further enhancing its award-winning Premium Economy experience.

The new seats will debut on newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft and are designed to give passengers greater control over their personal space, comfort and privacy.

Installed in a 2-3-2 configuration with just 28 seats, the Premium Economy cabin features seats that are 20 inches wide with a pitch of up to 39 inches. The seats recline into a cradle position without intruding on passengers seated behind.

Full-height privacy screen

The standout feature is an electrically operated privacy divider that extends to the full height of the seat, a first for the Premium Economy cabin segment.

Passengers can raise or lower the screen using seat controls and lock it into position, creating a more private space for working, dining or relaxing during the flight.

The seat also includes an integrated Passenger Control Unit, enabling travellers to adjust seating positions at the touch of a button through dedicated settings such as lounge mode and meal mode.

Enhanced comfort

Emirates has also introduced the U-Dream headrest by Safran Seats.

The leather headrest features adjustable wings that can be positioned to provide additional neck and head support. A manually deployable leather footrest is designed to improve comfort and help reduce leg fatigue on longer journeys.

Wireless charging and 4K entertainment

Wireless charging is being offered in Premium Economy for the first time, allowing passengers to charge compatible devices throughout their journey.

Each seat also includes USB-C charging ports and a tray table with an integrated phone holder that enables personal devices to be used as a second screen.

Passengers can access Emirates' ice entertainment system through a 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreen. On new A350 aircraft, travellers will also have access to additional exterior camera views, including new left and right aircraft perspectives alongside existing forward and downward-facing cameras.

Premium dining experience

Emirates said the new seat further enhances its Premium Economy offering, which includes gourmet meals served on Royal Doulton fine china with linen napkins and Robert Welch cutlery.

The airline noted that passengers also enjoy a curated selection of premium beverages, available exclusively to Emirates Premium Economy customers worldwide.

New amenity kits

On long-haul services, Premium Economy passengers will receive reusable amenity kits created in partnership with United for Wildlife.

Made using bio-based materials including cactus leather alternatives, the kits feature Aveda skincare products, as well as travel essentials such as socks, eyeshades, earplugs and a dental kit.

Continuing expansion

Since launching Premium Economy in 2022, Emirates has expanded the cabin across its growing fleet. The airline said the product is now available on all markets served by its Airbus A350 aircraft.

The introduction of the new electric seat with a full-height privacy screen marks the latest addition to Emirates' Premium Economy product, which has received multiple international industry awards and has become a key part of the airline's customer experience strategy.
